Action Research Project Change

My original action research project was to compare gains of student achievement scores between students enrolled in Adult Literacy courses to students dual enrolled in Adult Literacy and Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses to find out if CTE courses help increase student achievement test scores. I had to change my action research plan and topic. My site mentor helped me decide on a new project topic. My new action research topic is to determine if teacher reluctance and perspectives toward technology integration can be changed. I have been focusing heavily on helping change their reluctant mindsets and perspectives against technology integration by providing individualized training, and purchasing resources to create teach and reteach lessons. I hope my efforts of working collaboratively with teachers to create new student centered instructional strategies utilizing technology resources will help them experience a reduction in their time at the chalkboard, utilize technology for lessons, and improve student test scores.

EDLD 5326 Web Conference Reflection 3/24/13

This week’s conference helped clarify requirements for the week 5 assignments, and documentation that is required for posting in TK20 as I finalize my internship activities to be placed in my portfolio. I gained insight from Dr. Abernathy who clarified the role of field supervisors, and explained the problems with students needing one assigned to them for completing the Master’s program. This conference helped me understand the reason for the vague instructions, and reduced my frustration with trying to figure out what the instructors want from students in each course. I was relieved to find out that instructors want the students to decide what to write about and submit their own perspective on what they learned from the weekly activities. I was confused on how to submit my Prezi presentation and obtained instructions regarding how to submit it with my weekly assignment.

EDLD 5326 Web Conference Reflection 3/17/13

This web conference was very informative in completing the Week 4 and Week 5 assignments. I was able to verify the EDLD 5326 Week 4 assignment is to be uploaded to TK20. I learned that all Ed Tech documents are available in TK 20 and on the Lamar University Google Site. Students were informed to take the LCE multiple times so they may learn more about the Principal exam. The instructor wants students to try new software for the Week 4 presentation. I used Prezi for my presentation and really liked the outcome. It was a simple program and provided a fun learning experience for me. I learned about some of the assignment requirements of 5398, which is the final course to complete the action research project. Students must report in Week 5 on the progress of their action research project. The instructor recommended everyone to create a blog to be able to review important and key points of their degree program.

Web Conference Reflection for EDLD 5363 on July 1, 2012

I listened to the recording for the July 1st web conference. The instructor clarified questions that students had regarding the final week assignments. She announced when the next ISTE conference is scheduled and encouraged students to attend. I learned that students will be taking practice exams for the Principal certification and that a score of 80 is required before taking the actual exam. As a student, I have many opportunities to take the practice exam prior to graduating from Lamar University. This web conference helped me understand the assignment requirements to submit them with correct information.

Web Conference Reflection for EDLD 5363 on June 18, 2012

I attended the 7pm web conference on Monday, June 18, 2012. The session was very informative regarding the Week 3 assignments. Dr. Abernathy clarified some questions students had regarding using still images or using video for the assignment. She informed the students that video recordings were to be used in this course assignment. Also, the video is a short introduction to a lesson. It was my understanding that the groups were to choose a grade level and core subject that meet TEKS standards for the video. Dr. Abernathy answered other questions regarding internship activity and graduation requirements.

Web Conference Reflection for EDLD 5363 on June 10, 2012

I attended the web conference scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2012. It was very helpful to help me understand what is expected in the following week’s assignments, future assignments, and courses. This is the first web conference that provided clear and concise audio throughout the session. Also, I realized that my section number may change from course to course. I thought my section number would be the same throughout the duration of my degree plan.
